This facility features a state-of-the-art Center for Orthopedics & Sports Medicine and is associated with a Level II Pediatric Trauma Center . Position Overview: As a Certified Surgical Technician specializing in Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, you will be an integral member of the surgical team. Working within the dedicated surgery center, you will assist surgeons and nurses in providing exceptional care to patients undergoing various orthopedic and sports medicine procedures. Your primary responsibilities include preparing the operating room, ensuring instrument sterility and availability, maintaining the sterile field, and anticipating the needs of the surgical team throughout the procedure. Key Responsibilities: Prepare operating rooms for orthopedic and sports medicine procedures, ensuring all necessary sterile instruments, supplies, implants, and equipment are available and functional. Set up and maintain the sterile field before and during surgical procedures. Assist the surgical team by passing instruments and supplies, holding retractors, managing sutures, and anticipating surgeon needs. Perform accurate sponge, sharp, and instrument counts according to policy with the circulating nurse. Handle surgical specimens according to established protocols. Assist with patient positioning, draping, and surgical site preparation. Operate and monitor specialized equipment used in orthopedic/sports medicine surgery under supervision. Assist in cleaning and sterilizing instruments and equipment after procedures. Help ensure efficient operating room turnover between cases. Adhere strictly to aseptic techniques, infection control policies, and safety procedures. Required Qualifications: Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Certification: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider certification from the American Heart Association (AHA). Current certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) issued by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) OR Tech in Surgery - Certified (TS-C) issued by the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
