Job Description

Summary :

The Workday HCM Functional Consultant plays a critical role in implementing, optimizing, and supporting Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) solutions. This role collaborates with HR and IT stakeholders to configure, enhance, and maintain Workday modules, ensuring system efficiency, compliance, and alignment with business objectives. The consultant leverages expertise in Workday functionalities such as Core HCM, Compensation, Benefits, Recruiting, Talent & Performance, and Reporting to drive process improvements and deliver data-driven workforce solutions.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities :

Workday HCM Implementation & Optimization
  • Configure, test, and deploy Workday HCM modules, ensuring alignment with business needs.
  • Collaborate with HR, IT, and business leaders to gather and analyze system requirements.
  • Design and recommend process improvements to optimize Workday functionality and efficiency.
  • Support Workday releases, including testing new features and enhancements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve Workday system issues while ensuring minimal business disruption.

Workday Reporting & Analytics
  • Develop and maintain Workday reports and dashboards to support HR decision-making.
  • Leverage Workday Report Writer, Prism, and BIRT for advanced reporting capabilities.
  • Conduct data audits and ensure integrity across Workday HCM modules.
  • Provide insights into workforce metrics, trends, and compliance reporting.

System Integration & Data Management
  • Support Workday integrations with third-party applications such as payroll, benefits providers, and recruiting platforms.
  • Partner with IT teams to manage data migration, security, and system permissions.
  • Ensure Workday data integrity through routine audits, data validation, and governance policies.

Business Process Configuration & Enhancements
  • Configure and maintain Workday business processes, security roles, and user access controls.
  • Evaluate and implement Workday-delivered enhancements and new functionalities.
  • Provide ongoing support and training to HR teams on Workday processes and self-service capabilities.
  • Partner with HR and business stakeholders to develop scalable Workday solutions.

Compliance & System Governance
  • Ensure Workday configurations comply with labor laws, tax regulations, and HR policies.
  • Support HR compliance reporting, including EEO-1, VETS-4212, and other regulatory filings.
  • Establish data governance policies and ensure Workday security best practices are followed.

This position is an individual contributor with no direct reports but may provide guidance, leadership, or training to others.

Technical Skills
  • Strong expertise in Workday HCM, including configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Workday Business Process Framework and security administration.
  • Proficiency in Workday Report Writer, Calculated Fields, and Prism Analytics.
  • Familiarity with Workday Studio and EIBs for integrations.
  • SQL, Power BI, or other data visualization experience is a plus.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and communicate system requirements and technical documentation.
  • Ability to effectively present findings and recommendations to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret workforce data, trends, and predictive models.
  • Proficiency in calculating compensation adjustments, benefits costs, and financial impact analysis.
  • Ability to apply logical thinking and problem-solving skills to HR technology challenges.
  • Capability to identify process inefficiencies and recommend system enhancements.
  • Tasks are diverse and require both technical and functional expertise.

Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Information Systems, Business, or a related field.
  • 4-6 years of Workday HCM experience, with hands-on configuration expertise.
  • Experience in at least two or more Workday modules, such as Compensation, Benefits, Talent & Performance, or Recruiting.
  • Previous experience in HRIS, HR Technology, or system administration roles.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Workday certification(s) preferred (Workday HCM Core, Reporting, or Integration).

Work Complexity:

Problems and issues faced are difficult and complex and may require understanding of broader set of issues. Problems typically involve consideration of multiple issues and understanding of the financial/mortgage industry. Problems are typically solved through drawing from prior experience and analysis of issues.
