Position Overview As Minnesota's largest newsroom continues to reimagine its digital future, we're seeking a UX Researcher to join our growing product team in shaping exceptional news experiences.
You'll be joining us at a pivotal moment. In 2024, we completed a full company rebrand and we reimagined our digital presence across web, mobile, and emerging platforms - all of which generated substantial momentum toward game-changing digital subscriber goals over the next four years. Your research expertise will help shape how millions of Minnesotans discover, engage with and rely on local news.
Immediate Impact Areas - Lead research and validation for our digital presence relaunch, including:
- Navigation and information architecture validation
- New homepage and article experience testing
- Mobile app redesign validation
- Account management and subscription flow optimization
- Establish foundational research practices and workflows
- Build our user research repository and insights-sharing system
Core Responsibilities - Design and execute both tactical and strategic research using mixed methods
- Synthesize complex findings into clear, actionable insights that drive product decisions
- Collaborate across product, consumer growth, sales, marketing and newsroom teams
- Create compelling deliverables that build user empathy across the organization
- Help establish our research practice, including processes, tools and best practices
- Mentor colleagues in research methods to foster a user-centered culture
Required Qualifications - Experience conducting UX research in an agile product development environment
- Strong command of both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies
- Excellence in research planning, execution, analysis and presentation
- Experience with modern research and analytics tools
- Outstanding communication skills and ability to influence cross-functional teams
What Sets You Apart - Experience in media, journalism or subscription products
- Knowledge of news consumption patterns and behaviors
- Background in data analysis or visualization
- Experience establishing research practices in growing organizations
- History of measuring and demonstrating research impact on business outcomes

Salary/Wage Range $100,000 - $115,000 / year
Compensation for the role will depend on several factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
