The Mental Health Technician functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to patients ranging in age depending on which unit worked. Schedule: 32 - 40 hours a week, Shift: PM (2nd) 3:00pm-11:30pm. Job duties and Responsibilities include assisting patients with activities of daily living; interacting with patients, attending to patient needs and helping in crisis intervention as needed; transporting patients to and from appointments, clinics, laboratories, and/or treatments; facilitating on-the-job training for new and existing MHT team members; assisting in providing therapeutic patient care in group or one-to-one settings; responding to emergency and/or crisis situations and supporting visitor safety; monitoring safety of patients and environment including infection control standards; actively observing/monitoring and recording patient behavior and activities including meals and monitoring food intake; ensuring safety and accurate location of patients at all times including responsibility for milieu management; reporting any changes in patient condition or safety to the treatment team; orienting and educating patients upon admission and documenting as required; performing other duties as assigned including maintaining knowledge of department processes, protocols, and procedures, pursuing self-directed learning and continuing education, and participating on committees, task forces, and work groups as determined by management. Experience & Education Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent, must be 18 years or older, current Driver's license preferred, float coverage support to inpatient and residential (adult) levels of care. Formal training provided for CPR certification within 30 days of hire, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training within 60 days, and Community Based Residential Facility trainings within 90 days. Must pass pre-employment background and drug screen.
