Pheasantland Industries is a non-funded state program within the South Dakota Department of Corrections designed to enhance an inmate's ability to lead a productive life upon release from prison. The focus of the program is to increase employment opportunities for inmates by producing high quality goods and services for other state agencies and non- profit organizations. These businesses include custom furniture, cabinetry, upholstery, printing services, signage, vehicle decals, book binding, Braille transcription, license plates, machinery, garment production, screen printing and data entry services.
Position Description: This position works full or part time with the Pheasantland Industries staff on development and execution of a marketing plan to commercialize the goods and services offered by businesses within Pheasantland Industries.
We are looking for a creative and tech-savvy student or recent graduate to gain hands-on experience in web development. We are seeking an intern to assist in building and redesigning website pages using Granicus, a leading government-focused content management system.
Responsibilities: - Assist in designing, updating, and optimizing website pages within the Granicus platform.
- Work closely with our team to enhance user experience and functionality.
- Ensure pages are visually appealing, mobile-friendly, and are aligned with brand guidelines.
- Troubleshoot minor website issues and implement improvements.
- Provide input on best practices for website navigation and accessibility.
- Develop the site to become easier for clients to view products, and place orders.
Qualifications: - Basic knowledge of HTLML, CSS, and/or website design principles.
- Experience with Granicus or willing learn the Granicus platform.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Interest in web development and digital communications.
- Applicant must be a full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply.
- Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply. By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program.
All students are encouraged to apply, but preference may be given to applicants with a standing of junior/senior, South Dakota residents, and students of South Dakota institutions.
