Job Description:

We are seeking a motivated and results-oriented FPGA Engineer to join our team, specializing in the design and development of logic designs for control, test and measurement instruments. The ideal candidate will be capable of executing projects and delivering results while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams to support product design and development. Proficiency in FPGA development is essential.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement HDL for control, test and measurement instruments.
  • Utilize various protocols to communicate with onboard peripherals (I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, RS-232, USB).
  • Implement and support VHDL code for FPGA designs.
  • Conduct thorough integration, testing and debugging of new FPGA designs with hardware that includes microcontrollers and FPGAs to ensure functionality and reliability.
  • Document, maintain and update code for new products, calibration, feature enhancements and implement bug fixes in existing firmware. 
  • Support and execute responsibilities throughout various product lifecycle phases such as development, implementation, integration, validation and verification.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers to define and optimize circuit designs and specifications.
  • Document firmware design processes, test procedures, and specifications for product designs.
  • Stay informed about industry advancements in test and measurement technology and embedded systems.

 

Qualifications:

  • Degree qualifications in a field such as Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or equivalent experience in a related discipline.
  • Experience in logic design for embedded systems, particularly in test and measurement applications with proficiency in VHDL (preferred) or Verilog.
  • Experience with SoC architectures such as AXI, AMBA, WISHBONE, Avalon, or PLB.
  • Knowledge of circuit board design, including microcontrollers (e.g., ARM, PIC, AVR) and FPGAs.
  • Experience with development tools such as IDEs, debuggers, and version control systems (e.g., Git, Subversion).
  • Desirable familiarity with Tcl and other FPGA scripting processes as well as shell scripting.
  • Desirable familiarity with HDL verification techniques such as OSVVM or VUnit.
  • Desirable familiarity with HDL implemented microcontrollers such as Microblaze and RISC-V
  • Desirable familiarity with Digital Signal Processing principles and simulations in MATLAB or NumPy.
  • Desirable familiarity with electronic test and measurement instruments.
  • Effective problem-solving skills, attention to detail, ability to execute and deliver, and a proactive attitude.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

 

This offer is for full-time, non-remote, salaried employment. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Compensation package includes health and dental benefits, vacation, performance-based bonus opportunities, and retirement plan.

Base Starting Salary Range: $80k-$110k/year
