Firefighter – Volkswagen Arizona Proving Grounds, Maricopa, AZ

IMMEDIATELY HIRING!   FULL-TIME FIREFIGHTER / EMT

Work Hours: Variable

Salary: $28.00 per hour

Rural Metro Fire is hiring part-time Firefighter/EMT’s with a passion for firefighting and a demonstrated commitment to cultivating a positive, collaborative work environment.

Job Summary:

This is specialized fire/rescue work protecting life and property at the Volkswagen Arizona Proving Grounds. Employees in this class serve as uniformed firefighters, responsible for responding to actual or potential emergencies to prevent or extinguish fires and rescue occupants. Employees will respond to medical emergencies, vehicle crashes on the property. Work involves the operation of specialized firefighting equipment and the application of fire suppression rescue techniques.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Performs pre-hospital duties in compliance with AZ DHS Bureau of EMS and Performs BLS Scope of Practice in conjunction with Base-hospital Medical Direction.
• Maintains a safe environment for all patients and co-workers and maintains patient confidentiality.
• Responds to non-emergency and emergency services in a prompt and professional manner.
• Performs daily vehicle maintenance check and cleans both inside and Outside of assigned Unit on a daily basis.
• Performs daily supply inventory and equipment checklist.
• Performs daily duties assigned each day.
• Maintains a safe environment for all patients and co-workers.
• Operates the communication devices in a professional manner.
• Operates the emergency response vehicle safely.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Demonstrates flexibility, as patient care needs change.
• Must possess the ability to communicate with and effectively treat patients of all ages.
• Works in cooperation with co-workers and supervisory staff.
• Ability to read, navigate and familiar with local and state mapping system.
• Ability to follow and interpret written and oral instructions.
• Follows and performs the Employee role guidelines.
• Attendance and Promptness.
• Ability to adapt and overcome obstacles that arise during shift in a professional manner.
• Have a strong knowledge to scope of practice and limitations of task delegated on scene of Incidents.
• Perform Vehicle extrication, fire suppression, and all other emergency response situations.
• Ability to give direction and delegate information on an emergency scene.

Position Minimum Requirements

• Must be a high school graduate or possess a GED certificate
• Background investigation and pre-employment drug screening
• Must have NIMS 100, 200, 700, and 800
• Must be certified as an NFPA 1001 Firefighter II or have specialized firefighting training approved by client
• Must be certified to the NFPA 472, Hazardous Materials-Operations

• Must be certified an an Arizona EMT
• Valid driver license with acceptable driving record in accordance with company policy. DUI within last 5 years is disqualifying.
