Hiring a full time Emergency Department Director. Ideal candidate will have strong communication skills and a positive personality, who is willing to support Horn Memorial Hospital's mission, vision, and culture.

This position is Monday through Friday, day hours, exempt status.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manages the ED and Clinic Outpatients seen in the ED and serves as the Level IV Trauma Coordinator.

  • Responsible for overall patient care provided in the Emergency Department (ED).
  • Performs coaching, discipline, and employee evaluations. Directs orientation of new personnel to the emergency department
  • Works collaboratively with other departments
  • Mentors and teaches nursing competencies
  • Develops, maintains, interprets, and evaluates Policies and Procedures in the ED and OP Departments.
  • Monitors documentation of patient care to assure completeness and accuracy.
  • Promotes excellent customer service
  • Must be willing to fill in shifts as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Is a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with current licensure as an RN in the State of Iowa; BSN preferred. Must be Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Trauma Nurse Core Course certified.

  • Experience: Has a minimum of three years’ experience as a practicing nurse in the Emergency setting, during which time there was demonstrated leadership and management ability.

Applicant must pass a background check, health assessment including applicable vaccinations, and drug screen before hiring.
