Direct Support Professional

Description:

The Direct Support Professional is responsible for the safety and supervision of consumers with Intellectual Developmental Disabilities and behavioral health histories to facilitate healthy and socially acceptable behaviors while living in community-based sites.
This position coordinates with clinical staff, implements residentially based interventions, and assists clients in achieving their clinical assignments.
The DSP fulfills obligations as outlined in the client’s program plan and may prompt or assist clients to ensure participation in daily living activities, both at home and in the community.
Essential duties include providing supervision according to Person-Centered Support Plans, administering medication as needed, providing transportation, supporting consumers in daily living activities such as meal preparation, toileting, personal hygiene, and assisting in community integration activities including medical appointments and access to community supports.
Additional administrative duties include completing required documentation and other tasks as assigned by a supervisor.

Requirements:

High School diploma or GED required; an associate’s or bachelor’s degree is preferred.
Basic computer and internet literacy, with the ability to use applications like email and time recording software.
Prior experience in the human services field is preferred.
A valid driver’s license is required.
Subject to employment screenings, including FBI clearance if applicable.
