Our Digital Forensics Engineer position is part of a dynamic team delivering cutting-edge technical research and solutions. Successful candidates will have strong research, collaboration, and communication skills, a self-starting attitude, and the ability to tackle challenging problems. Candidates should be comfortable performing technical analysis on multimedia such as imagery, video, and audio files.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Analyze metadata and properties of multimedia files (images, videos, audio) using industry tools to determine origin, processing history, and characteristics. Use advanced digital forensic software and techniques across domains (pixel, metadata, binary) to assess file authenticity and detect malicious alterations. Conduct scientific research on digital forensics topics and independently overcome technical challenges. Follow best practices for digital forensics investigations, including proper evidence handling and documentation. Process multimedia files (multiplexing, transcoding, etc.) using tools like FFmpeg across various formats and standards. Collaborate with team members to share knowledge, communicate progress, and meet customer requirements. Perform quality control inspections of digital content. Create detailed procedural documentation to support automation and institutional knowledge. Stay updated on emerging trends, techniques, and tools, especially in synthetic multimedia. Support software development and testing efforts for customer-facing products.

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU WILL BRING

US Citizenship is required. Over 9 years of experience as a research engineer. Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field. Understanding of ISO base media file format (ISOBMFF) and related standards affecting video formats like MP4 and MOV. Knowledge of anti-forensic techniques used to hide evidence. Familiarity with image editing tools such as Adobe Photoshop and GIMP.

CONCEPTS THAT SHOULD BE FAMILIAR

Photography principles affecting image/video characteristics. Forensic tools like ExifTool, Hex Editors, Magnet Verify, FFmpeg, MediaInfo, and Amped Authenticate.

BONUS POINTS IF YOU HAVE

Experience with Jira. Basic scripting skills in Python. GIAC certifications such as GBFA and GASF.
