Job Description

Join Murray Lampert DBR , a respected family-owned Design Build Remodel company based in San Diego. Serving homeowners since 1975, we are known for our exceptional service, innovative design, and treating clients like family. We specialize in custom residential remodeling, including additions, kitchens, whole-home renovations, and ADUs.

Position Summary

As an Architect at Murray Lampert DBR, you’ll be a key contributor to our design team, responsible for leading architectural design projects from concept through completion. You’ll use your technical skills, creativity, and experience to develop innovative, buildable designs that meet client expectations and regulatory requirements. This is a hands-on, collaborative role involving close coordination with Project Consultants, Project Managers, and clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead architectural design efforts for residential remodels and additions from schematic design through construction documents.
  • Develop detailed 3D models, renderings, and presentations during the Design Development phase using Revit and Enscape .
  • Prepare construction documents and permit submittal packages in compliance with local codes.
  • Collaborate with Project Consultants and design team members on space planning, feasibility, and design strategy.
  • Use tools like Bluebeam for redlining and communication.
  • Participate in client presentations and use graphic design/2D animation where applicable to convey concepts.
  • Support the permit phase by drafting Change Orders as design decisions evolve.
  • Coordinate with consultants, trade partners, and permitting authorities as needed.
  • Provide design support during construction, helping to troubleshoot field issues alongside Project Managers.
  • Mentor junior designers, sharing best practices and reviewing work for quality and accuracy.
  • Attend internal meetings, product knowledge sessions, and showroom visits.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Licensed Architect in the State of California .
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in architectural design, preferably in residential design/build.
  • Proficient in Revit , Enscape , and Bluebeam .
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and platforms, such as BuilderTrend .
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, codes, zoning requirements, and residential project delivery.
  • Excellent drafting and detailing skills.
  • Strong visual communication skills including graphic design or 2D animation (a plus).
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects efficiently and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Reliable transportation, valid auto insurance, and clean driving record.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or related field preferred.
